Response to Janae's post
In response to Janae's original post, she made me think about the relationship between the two characters in a different way. She made me think of how Paulus was a very selfish person throughout the entire story. However, to play devil's advocate, Paulus tried his best to keep his relationship alive. He knew that if others found out about his love for Thebedi, they would be punished. If he didn't love her as much as he did, he would have just let the relationship go. He wouldn't try and keep it a secret. That said, I still agree with Janae, who said he was selfish. Even though he DID love her, he thought too much of what others would think, and not enough about the woman he loved.
