Country lovers was a very sad story and showed the hardships of Apartheid very well. I think that Paulus and Thebedi had a very good understanding that they couldn't be together because of their race. Paulus had to deal with a lot of pressure to the point where he wanted to kill himself, which is not right. He ended up killing the baby because the pressure and hardships became to much. No one should ever be looked down upon or superior because of the color of their skin. Apartheid may have been legalized back then but it could never happen today.
