In response to Zach's blog, his point of bring up the baby being a symbol of something that should unite the couple is a tremendous tie into the story. Him seeing it in that way opens a new view of the couples relationship and how the Apartheid effected them. His point of Paulus being innocent is completely rational. Zach adding the point in the story where Paulus says he wants to be dead then, the baby ending up dead, just support his argument of Paulus' innocents. Giving this point of view, in my opinion, makes Paulus more of a antagonist in the story. It also gives us an inside to Paulus' pressures and the realization of what the Apartheid made people under go.
